What is the Richmond Playbuilder Project?
There is currently a £300 million pound nationwide investment in children’s outdoor 'natural play', led by Play England and funded by central government’s Department of Children, Schools and Families.
And Richmond Upon Thames Council are getting in on the action! The project is called Richmond Playbuilders 2009-2010. It’s being run by the Richmond Department of Culture and Sport alongside the Parks department and in some places Richmond Housing Partnership. The London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames is to create 22 'natural' play spaces in 2 years. The first 11 will be designed and built by March 2010.
We are following Play England’s latest guidelines to design our play spaces taken from Design For Play: A guide to creating successful play spaces. It’s published by DCSF and you can download a copy.
